Fourth Annual Scholar in Residence

This year's guest will be

Dr. Adele Reinhartz,

Associate Vice President for Research

at theUniversity of Ottawa,

Professor in Department of Classics

and Religious Studies.

Dr. Reinhartz will deliver two lectures

on Saturday, September 27, 2008

followed by question and answer sessions.

On Sunday Dr. Reinhartz will speak

during the 9:45 a.m. Sunday worship service.

She will again speak at 11:00 a.m.

during the Adult Education hour.

          Drawing on a broad range of movies, biblical

          scholar Adele Reinhartz traces the way in

          which Jesus of Nazareth has become Jesus

          of Hollywood. She argues that Jesus films

          both reflect and influence cultural perception

          of Jesus and other figures in his story.

         Dr. Reinhartz is the author of numerous articles   

         and several books, including:

              Befriending the Beloved Disciple:

        A Jewish Reading of the Gospel of John

                                  (2001)

             Scripture on the Silver Screen (2003)

            Jesus of Hollywood (2007)
