Church Organist (5-10 hrs per week)PURPOSE:
A. The organist shall provide organ/piano accompaniment for the hymns, anthem, and worship. B. As a member of the church staff, the organist shall be responsible to the pastor and shall be accountable to the personnel committee. C. The contract shall be a 12-month contract, however, arrangements may be made by the organist to schedule three Sundays off to be filled by a substitute organist. D. The work of the organist shall be carried on in cooperation with the worship committee and pastor. The organist is ex-officio on that committee. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: A. Shall provide prelude and postlude music during the worship service, accompany the hymns, choir anthems and other appropriate musical needs for the service. The music selection list shall be in the church office by 9:00 AM on Thursdays to be published in the weekly bulletin for Sunday mornings. B. Shall provide accompaniment for the Westminster Choir during regular rehearsals on Sunday mornings and any special rehearsals as requested. C. Shall take responsibility for personal practice time and participate in planning sessions with the pastor and/or worship committee. D. Shall keep organ music in order and update and purchase new music within the limits of the music budget. E. May be asked to provide musical accompaniment for weddings, funerals, and other special services. The arrangements shall be made with the pastor and the persons involved. Extra compensation will be provided. F. The organist is responsible for the organ. Any needed repairs or adjustments are to be arranged for with the knowledge and approval of the pastor and worship committee. G. Provide communication to the congregation through newsletter, bulletin, announcements, and annual reports as needed. |
Church Choir Director (3-4 hrs for 40 weeks)PURPOSE:
A. The Westminster Choir Director shall organize and direct an adult choir (8th graders through adults) for the purpose of providing church music at worship services and other special services as requested by the worship committee or pastor. B. The Westminster Choir Director shall be accountable to the personnel committee and pastor. C. The work of the Westminster Choir Director shall be carried on in cooperation with the worship committee. The Westminster Choir Director is ex-officio on that committee. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: A. Selection of music and preparation for rehearsals. B. Rehearse with the choir on Sunday mornings at 8:30 a.m. throughout the months of September through May. C. Direct the choir on Sunday mornings. When unavailable to direct the choir, the choir director will coordinate with the worship committee to arrange alternate music. D. Help develop and interpret quarterly calendar schedules. E. Shall update and purchase new music within the limits of the music budget. F. Consult with the pastor on worship themes, schedules, and communication matters. G. Provide communication to the congregation through newsletter, bulletin, announcements, and annual reports as needed to alert church members and friends of the church to choir start-up dates, holy days, cantatas, recruitment letters, etc. |
