Statement of Welcome
As one part of the church of Jesus Christ, we are inspired and guided by Christ’s vision of God’s realm- one that includes all who seek to love God and neighbor.
First Presbyterian Church is an open and affirming congregation which welcomes all people. We encourage you to check out our Welcoming Statement on the homepage of our website. We hope you truly feel welcomed here. As a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), we invite those who respond in trust and obedience to God’s grace in Jesus Christ to become part of the membership and ministry of the church. If you are interested in membership or becoming active in the life of the church please talk to the Pastor. We would be pleased to have you join us in our journey of faith, regardless of age, race, gender, sexual orientation, economic or family status, ethnic background, mental or physical abilities. We are a Matthew 25 Church which means we are committed to Building Congregational Vitality, Dismantling Structural Racism, and Eradicating Systemic Poverty. Learn more Here. |
What to Expect in Sunday Worship
Everyone is welcome! Guests as well as members are greeted in a spirit of hospitality and welcome. Guests will find our morning greeters at the entrances to the church. Feel free to ask any questions or seek direction from our greeters. As you enter you will be provided with a worship bulletin (Children’s Bulletins are also available) that will guide you through our worship service. We are also providing bulletins in both Spanish and Ukrainian. During the service, fellowship pads are passed among the pews. Please share your name and information so that our pastor can connect with you following the service.
The first Sunday of the month is Communion Sunday. All are invited to partake in Communion.
Join us after our 9:45 AM worship service for coffee, cookies and conversation in the Gathering Space, directly outside of the Sanctuary. Occasionally there is an adult class following worship.

What Should I Wear?
Visitors are sometimes concerned about what to wear. First Presbyterian is a casual worship environment —there is no Sunday dress code! We encourage you to come as you are and dress comfortably.
If You Have Children…
Childcare for infants and toddlers is provided during the worship service from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. No reservations are needed for childcare. Infants and toddlers are cared for by trained, competent childcare workers who genuinely love children and focus on helping them, and their parents, feel secure while in the church’s care. You will find the nursery at the end of the main hallway, across from the restrooms.
We are always delighted to welcome children into our worship. At First Presbyterian children are valued as vital members of our community of faith. There is a Children’s Corner in the back of the sanctuary. Feel free to take a bin of activities for your child as you enter the worship space. You can bring it to your seat or hang out in the Children’s Corner with adult supervision. On the first Sunday of every month one special part of our worship service is the “Children’s Message” designed for toddlers and school-aged children. Children are invited to come to the front of the worship space to join our Director of Congregational Ministries or one of our adults as we talk about some aspect of our life together.
We offer a weekly K-5 Wednesday afternoon program for our children. Click here to learn more. We also have Wednesday night Press On Youth Group for 6th-12th graders.
